"Naked Lady Sea Sprite" ~

“Naked Lady was the first company that sent me soaps to review on [my] blog. Yes, my first review. I reviewed their Fuzzy Navel (mmm) - loved it! Today, I am reviewing their Sea Sprite Deep Cleansing ~ Dead Sea Soap. The mother-daughter team has shared again with me. Well. All along, this was the bar I wanted to try because of the salt...with salt and mud, I feel very wholesome and natural bathing with it. The color is a muddy olive green which I like very much and the lather is delightful. The bubbles grew rapidly and gave me a nice leg shave. I have used so many all natural soaps, that essential oils are starting to smell somewhat similar... antiseptic and planty. I can't put my finger on the scent in this bar, but I think it has tea tree perhaps and a touch of rosemary? I looked on their site and on the box, but there is no description of the essential oils used. I think Naked Lady Soaps are superior , well thought out and well made. Thank you Naked Ladies!”

Naked Lady...Soap! ~

“Today's squeaky clean post is all about supporting small business. If you're anything like me, you get a nervous tic just thinking about stepping foot in your local Wal*Mart. I'm a big fan of small, local businesses. The service is always superior and the quality excellent, so I support small, local businesses every chance I get…Something I enjoy nearly as much as the Indies are local green markets. We have one right here in Abacoa. Sadly, this Saturday is the last one of the season and I'll have to get my fresh greens and hand-made soaps elsewhere.

Um, no I won't! My friends at family-owned and run Naked Lady Soap sell their yummy smelling soaps on-line. I can replenish my supply until the green market opens again in the fall. If you want to support a lovely, small business and get some fabulous soaps for yourself or your friends, stop by the Abacoa green market this Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. or shop on-line. Stay clean (or not)”

Eco-focus gains holiday spark in Palm Beach ~

"Although Sunday Palm Beach and The Hamptons draw more or less the same crowd, those tony villages on the East end of Long Island are considerably "greener," even in the winter. That observation led two area businesswomen to select Palm Beach for an upcoming showcase of earth-friendly products and services for holiday giving. "In the Hamptons, I saw how much ahead they were in 'green' commerce," said Beth Beattie, a partner in Jupiter-based spark pr & events. "There were 'green' accessories, clothing, home products and jewelry." She and her partner, Rena Toppe, president of the firm, decided to tip the scales by hosting a Green Holiday Event to encourage more awareness of businesses that give sway to the environment… Toppe said participating businesses…are Under the Canopy, Juice Beauty, TruBamboo, Verde Products, Naked Lady Natural Soap, Concierge Couture, RAW Jewelry and Palm Tree Paperie. Beattie said…"I was surprised. There are quite a few local companies. Six out of the eight (participants) are local," she said. Two are based in West Palm Beach, a few in Jupiter and one in Boca Raton. "Bringing these environmentally conscious businesses together is a great way to show our community you can still buy great gifts while being mindful of the long-term impact of elements such as ingredients or packaging," Beattie said. "We hope this event will increase the awareness of green products and services available in our back yard." A portion of the proceeds from sales…will benefit the Apoxee Park water reuse project. Southeast of the Grassy Waters Preserve, Apoxee Park is a natural water reclamation area that provides millions of gallons of water a day. Apoxee is the Miccosukee word for "beyond tomorrow." The project is among a planned series of urban wilderness parks that exist both for preservation and public enjoyment…"

Naked Lady ~

"Naked Lady Natural Soap is owned by a mother daughter duo right here in Tequesta. They are such lovely people. Frances Vaughn started the soap business as a home schooling project with her daughter, Hayley, and it took off from there. Now Hayley is away getting her Masters in Business while her mom holds down the fort and continues the soap making in her home. Speaking with Fran was so nice, hearing her soap stories along with the hardships of being a business owner (I can relate to that!). Her first batch of soap ever was made with beef tallow - wow. She quickly realized people did not want to rub beef on their skin while getting clean, especially the people who were looking for a more vegan approach.

I will jump in the shower now and give a report on the Fuzzy Navel! 10 minutes later....... I am still dripping, but I had to share because I am so excited about it. The Fuzzy Navel smelled delightful, but not quite as strong as I imagined it would be. I found myself holding the bar to my nose and smelling very deeply. Yum. There was copious foaming action, lovely scent and I used it for shaving my legs, which did very well. Most soaps I use don't have the "slip" I need and leave me feeling dried out after shaving. Fuzzy Navel was perfect for my legs and my whole body feels clean and refreshed. The shower experience was truly a delight!”

Green market a colorful example of free enterprise ~

For an excellent lesson on the possibilities of free enterprise, check out the Stuart green market. These enthusiastic vendors, whose numbers keep growing, set up their booths every Sunday in front of City Hall in Stuart’s historic downtown…From its start in November 2002, the Stuart green market has been a popular rendezvous point for Treasure Coast residents and visitors. Those in the know come armed with empty canvas bags, ready to start their weekly shopping. This also is a place where worshipers stop by before or after church, and neighbors bump into friends. There are smiles all around, and the place exudes the genuine feeling of community pride…

When strolling past the numerous booths, one is struck by the wide variety of products. You also can’t help but feel a swell of good old American pride when you recognize that, like following a chapter out of a Business 101 textbook, each vendor had an idea, then produced a product to fulfill a perceived need. Frances Vaughn of Tequesta sells Naked Lady natural soap. The name is catchy. And the soap? She makes it at home, using a cold process that blends soap ingredients with natural oils that include olive, coconut and palm. Fragrant, with bubbly lather and rich moisturizers, the soap is popular. “I’m selling as much as I can make,” Vaughn said. “But I love this---a small town with repeat customers. It’s wonderful.”
